Hi Amer

a social enterprise version was designed and successfully run by a colleague of mine, Sarah Underwood, at Leeds University. I'm sure she can send you more details if you contact her. We have recently presented a joint paper on this but it will not be published for a while yet. You can also find a chapter I have written in this book which outlines the process in much more detail:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Using-Games-Enhance-Learning-Teaching/dp/0415897726/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1352825319&sr=8-7

Please don't hesitate to contact me should you require any help.

Good points Emma thanks. Curiously, I thought I would make lots of errors during the recordings but actually I didn't make many. Also, most of the research I have read on the subject says not to bother re-recording feedback. A few err's and umm's are quite natural. I have not seen or used captivate but might have a look.

Cheers

Hi Simon,
I've also tried in the past (in that particular case, for a dyslexic student) using Captivate; I opened up her essay in Word, selected the bit I wanted to comment on & then spoke to her, trying to imagine what I'd say were she in the office & anticipate the questions I thought she'd ask.

I then also (once I'd said it all) did a summary in Word of what I'd said, in case it didn't work.

She was bowled over by it & said she'd never had any feedback like that before - and how useful it was. (This was maybe 5 years ago, long before we had Wimba). I've not tried with Wimba, mostly because I've got quite large classes & I tend to write quite a lot of feedback (in Word - never by hand) - & though I can speak faster than I can write, by the time I've recorded it 6 times because I made an error, the time saving's not quite as great.

But, maybe I should try again. (Though I think that Captivate would be better for what I'm doing, as they're giving stuff in as websites / flash, so hard to get a point of reference without seeing it - which makes doing audio seem sensible. If that makes sense!
